The destruction of its habitat and hunting fragmented populations. The country&#8217;s heavy mining pollutes the water, a resource essential for the survival of this species.<br\/>While the species was thought to be extinct, in 1986 about a hundred individuals were discovered in the humid forests of the east of the island.
