A prized bird… and threatened

There are two subspecies of grey parrots: the African parrot and the Timneh parrot, which can be differentiated by the colour of the beak and the tail. These parrots live in large flocks in tropical forests, and communication between them is essential, whether visual or audible.
Very intelligent birds capable of imitating human language, they were very popular as pets… This is problematic, because many of them are caught in the wild for international trade. This is why their possession is now regulated.

During your visit, you can practice differentiating between the two subspecies!
