Domesticated 8 to 11,000 years ago, goats are now farmed all over the world: they survive where grass is too scarce for other herbivores such as sheep and cows to establish. There are many breeds, which vary in coat, size and weight (9 to 113 kg). They have a great group instinct, and have to live with other dogs.

The ones you meet at La Barben Animal Park are dwarf goats, which are considered pets due to their small size. They are particularly agile, and you will be amused by their great jumps from rock to rock! But don’t get me wrong: their headbutts are effective in case of danger…
