The master of extreme cold…

Characterized by its brushes of hair at the tips of its ears, the lynx is a feline adapted to life in the snow: thick fur, long legs, wide feet… If it has good night vision, it is mainly thanks to its excellent hearing that it locates its prey. He favours roe deer and chamois, but also hunts foxes, hares, birds…
After disappearing from France, it was reintroduced in the 1970s and 80s, but this small population (130 to 150 individuals) remains particularly vulnerable. A discreet species, its impact on herds is limited (50 to 100 attacks per year), but there are nevertheless signs of local discontent.

At the park lives a pair of lynx and one of their calves, a now adult female: she was born in 2014!
