The 6 species of flamingos are recognizable by their elongated necks, their long thin legs, and their more or less pink plumage, a color due to a carotenoid pigment extracted from plankton: this color varies according to the species but therefore also according to the quantity of pigment contained in the diet!
The Chilean flamingo can be recognized by pale plumage, pinkish wings with black tips, yellowish-grey legs with pink joints, and half of the bill black in color. It lives in muddy, shallow lakes, fresh or salt water, up to 4500m above sea level!

In La Barben, you can discover the group of Chilean flamingos evolving with the anteaters!
