Lemurs – Antongil Conservation

3 2 9 antogillSince 1999, the NGO Antongil Conservation has been working to protect the forest and biodiversity in Madagascar, in the Maroantsetra region (north-east of the island). It sets up awareness-raising actions (Lemur Festival, intervention in schools, etc.) and local development, allowing local communities to improve their living conditions while preserving nature. It manages the Farankaraina Forest, which covers 1,600 hectares and is home to some of the last major rainforest complexes. Its fauna and flora are full of exceptional species such as the panther chameleon or the crested ibis. This management is done in cooperation with neighbouring communities, which also benefit from economic alternatives. Reforestation actions are carried out thanks to nurseries and red lemurs have been reintroduced, the first step in a vast project to reintroduce this critically endangered species!

We are pleased to support this project since 2022.
