Siberian Tigers – Wildcats Conservation Alliance
The different
subspecies of tigers face many threats:
– poaching for the skin and many parts of the body, used in traditional medicine
– deforestation
– Scarcity of prey
– conflicts with humans, following tiger attacks on livestock
– Inbreeding and diseases
There are less than 4000 of them left in the wild!
Wildcats Conservation Alliance works throughout Asia to safeguard them:
– anti-poaching patrols and the fight against illegal wildlife trade
– Population surveillance and health monitoring
– Education and awareness
– Conflict reduction
These efforts are crowned with success! Thus, the Siberian tiger population has increased from 50 individuals in 1940 to 540 in 2020!
The animal park has been happy to support their actions in favor of Siberian tigers since 2021.
