Macaws are psittacines; They are part of the same family as parrots. They differ mainly in their large size: the chloropteran macaw is 90 cm long! It owes its name to the green color on its wings.
They feed on fruits and seeds, opened thanks to their powerful beaks, and also consume clay, providing them with mineral salts.

You will be surprised by their bright colors, but also by their powerful screams!
While chloropteran macaws are not threatened, other macaw species are very strongly threatened: we are happy to support the actions of the Armonia association, which works to save the blue-throated macaw in Bolivia, since 2022!
