Anteater – Anteaters Highways

Logo opcoes en 07The giant anteater, also known as anteater, is classified as vulnerable according to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature). Various threats weigh on this species: hunting, capture for animal trafficking, dog attacks, but above all habitat loss (half of the Cerrado, a typical Brazilian savannah, has already been converted for agriculture) and road collisions that kill adults and 50% of the young. Many young anteaters are left orphaned with very little chance of survival.
The Anteaters Highways program works in Brazil to study these animals, understand their behavior and needs, and thus implement solutions for their conservation.

The actions carried out are:
– Limit road mortality on anteaters and other species, in particular through the creation of an application to warn motorists of the presence of these animals on the road
– Collect orphaned anteaters
– Raise awareness for a harmonious cohabitation between anteaters and domestic dogs
– protect their habitat

You can follow their actions on their website, Facebook page, Instagram and Youtube !

We are pleased to support this project since 2022.
