Also called vinegar dog!

This canine has this nickname, because of its smell! In order to move more easily in dense vegetation, it has short legs, giving it a rather slow pace. Its short, shiny coat is water-resistant. It lives in family groups, made up of a couple and their descendants, a dozen animals in total!
It hunts small mammals (agoutis, capybaras, armadillos, etc.), birds, amphibians and reptiles. An excellent swimmer, it can chase its prey in the water, or capture it in burrows.
It is a species that is difficult to observe and increasingly rare: it is threatened by poaching, domestic dogs and deforestation. That’s why we are happy to support the Zorro Pitoco program since 2022 that works to save them in Argentina!

In La Barben, lives a couple, who arrived in 2021 in the hope of having births! They live in a wooded park, maybe you will be lucky enough to see them swimming?
