Ancestor of the domestic wolf, the gray wolf (or European wolf) is a social animal, living in packs. For a long time, it was thought that the hierarchy was very strict, but the latest studies tend to show that the way it works could be very flexible!
If the wolf disappeared from France in the 1930s, it returned naturally 60 years later… but not without history, and attacks on domestic herds are the main sources of current conflicts with humans.

At the Parc de La Barben, the pack evolves in a new wooded area of 3800 m2!
