The largest land animal!

Giraffes can reach a record height of 5.5 meters. Other striking figures: 2-meter long legs, a tongue of more than 40 cm, a gestation of 14 months…
In addition, each giraffe has unique tasks, allowing each individual to be identified!

At the La Barben animal park lives a group of giraffes, in which there are regular births. It is currently composed of a male, 2 females, two young and a giraffe, born in June 2021!

They have the ambassadors of their fellow Giraffes living in West Africa: with barely 700 individuals grouped together in Niger, they benefit from the remarkable work carried out by the Association for the Safeguarding of the Giraffes of Niger (ASGN).

This species is part of a European Breeding Program set up by zoological parks for the survival of the species.
