The largest bird in the world!

You will recognize the male ostrich by its black and white plumage, while the females are brown. Like other ratites (emus, cassowaries, rheas and kiwis), the ostrich is flightless; On the other hand, it can run at 70 km/h: it is the fastest bird in the race!
Other records: its eye, the largest among those of land animals, and its eggs (16 cm long, 1.5 kg, the equivalent of 24 chicken eggs!).
To avoid being spotted, she sometimes lies on the ground with her neck extended: this is probably the origin of the legend that she buried her head in the sand!

At the La Barben animal park, ostriches live in a vast plain, in the company of white rhinoceroses, blue wildebeests and beisa oryx!
