Lord of our forests…

Red deer are present in European forests, but also in North America, China, Russia… as well as in Algeria and Tunisia!
Males are larger than females, and are the only ones to wear antlers. Young fawns, on the other hand, have a spotted coat to camouflage themselves in the vegetation; These spots disappear before adulthood.

A whole group (a “herd”) of deer is present at the Barben animal park; Depending on the season, you will be able to observe the different stages of the growth of the male’s antlers… or even discover the fawns, usually born in May and June!
Since 2018, they have been living in a new wooded area of 2500 m2!
