The zoo to the rescue of laboratory animals!

Once again, the Barben Zoo is participating in the rehabilitation of abused animals… A group of crab-eating macaques (8 females and one male) joined the park’s residents on July 31.
After being used for several years in medical research, these macaques were saved in extremis!! Indeed, the laboratory had planned to euthanize them. But they didn’t count on their caretaker at the time and the association Tonga Terre d’Accueil which finally succeeds in recovering this group of primates.
In search of a new species for the park and very sensitive to this history, it is quite natural that the Barben Animal Park offered to welcome these crab-eating macaques. They will now be able to lead a peaceful life in a large enclosure whose layout they will discover in a few days! A natural setting of grass, rocks, trees, a swimming pool (for a water-loving species), group life and good care provided by the team of keepers: so many ingredients to offer them a gentle and protected life within the zoo!
